Paper abstract:
Through a reading of contemporary Pakistani Anglophone fiction, this paper proposes to illustrate that ‘everyday life’ enables the emergence of a new notion of Muslim self negotiating the sacral and the secular/mundane. Further, the paper will chart a genealogy of that negotiation since the colonial times, as enunciated in Ahmed Ali’s Twilight in Delhi (1940).
